Looking after your wooden utensils may seem like a chore, but it is so important to keep up with it to get the most from your spoons, chopping boards and bowls. In this post we will break down what you need to do to make this as easy as possible!
Ensure you clean all your utensils straight after use with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. It’s important to not let them sit it water as this will cause the edges to deteriorate, warp and crack over time.
Oiling once a month will provide a protective layer and ensure there is plenty of moisture. We recommend using a combination of beeswax and coconut oil, but any long life food safe oil will also work. Rub the oil in using a dry cloth or kitchen towel, do this 2-3 times for a new spoon.
If you find your utensils starting to look a little tired or pale around the edges, use a fine grit sandpaper to tidy up the surface, when done make sure you reapply some oil.
